Overall the setup is a bit cumbersome but, once I got going with the configuration and using Alexa. The lights blinked and viola! I was then able to control the Soundbar with ease. The assistant then instructed me to hold down the left arrow + volume down keys simultaneously. But, my remote still did not work with the Soundbar. I then was able to go through the setup options without a hitch. My Soundbar showed up in the Bose Music app with no problem. (There was no indication of that happening in the background.) Who knew?Īnyway, when the updates were completed. Then I found out that the Soundbar was downloading updates.

Right? Wrong! The assistant advised I download and use the Bose Music app. It would make sense to use it with the 700. I was using the SoundTouch app which I've used with the SoundTouch 500. I then found out that I was initially using the wrong iPhone app for connec. The next morning I called the Bose customer service for assistance. After a couple of hours I forced myself to get some sleep and try again the next day before returning the system. Nor could I get the iPhone app to recognize the soundbar. I must admit the first night I used it was frustrating. For all systems with height channels "Z" is typically 2 (front left and right height channels) or 4 (front left and right and rear left and right height channels).I bought my Bose Soundbar 700 with the bass module the day it released on September 20th. For all systems "Y" indicates the number of subwoofers (typically 0 or 1, but on occasion 2).

With surround systems "X" is total number of channels that are integrated into the soundbar or soundbase enclosure (typically front left and right, or front left and right, and center) plus the number of surround channels handled by separate surround speakers (typically left rear and right rear, but there could also be left side and right side, or more). With non-surround systems "X" is the number of non-surround channels that are integrated into the soundbar or soundbase enclosure (2 means front left and right, 3 means front left, right, and center there could be higher numbers - meaning more channels - but it still amounts to non-surround sound). The format is "X.Y" for non-surround and surround sound systems, and "X.Y.Z" for non-surround or surround systems with height channels. The number of audio channels the system has, whether the channels provide surround sound, and if applicable, whether optional accessories can be used to expand the system to more channels and/or to provide surround sound.
